How do you feel about the privacy of your personal medical records?
In Minnesota, it is illegal to share private information about your medical records without your consent. Recently, we have become aware of insurance companies that have altered medical authorizations fraudulently to allow access to confidential medical records. Although not a crime, it is representative of the arrogance of the powerful to undermine, embarrass and disempower the individual. So what if it violates the law? After all, the law is only going to apply if it is for the benefit of the powerful, right?
