Terrorists Bring on New Presidential Powers- So he says

A recent article in the New Yorker magazine detailed the power and influence of attorney David Addington, counsel to Vice-President Dick Cheney.
This is going to be a short post. My intent here is to encourage you to look at what Addington’s interpretation of Executive Powers are in light of the Presidential War powers. My read on this is that if we are at war with terrorists, the wraps are off–according to Adddington. Torture, military courts, surveilance at will without court approval and stuff we don’t even know about. Maybe this is history repeating itself. Wasn’t there a previous King George?
In light of Addington’s interpretation of Executive power, is it any wonder that those that seek to preserve freedom in this country shudder at the prospect of our Supreme Court abdicating its power to control and rebuke the Presidency?
This President, according to Addinton, is not accountable to Congress or any other watchdog because we are at “war”. Is it any wonder that President Bush is telling us that we are at war and it will not end at anytime in the future.
Is it time for Congress and the Supreme Court to do its job?
