Digitek Alert
In late April of this year drug manufacturer Actavis Totowa issued a nationwide recall (.pdf) of it’s heart medication Digitek (generic name digoxin). The recall was due to tablets that were manufactured with twice their normal active ingredient. These pills have the potential to cause digitalis toxicity.
When digoxin levels exceed the appropriate dose the symptoms can range from:
- nausea
- depression of blood pressure
- an abnormally slow heartbeat
- general cardiac instability
- stroke
In some cases, these serious symptoms can also lead to death.
There have already been many lawsuits filed against the manufacturer of Digitek by the patients and their families who have experienced digitalis toxicity as a result of DigitekĀ®. If you or your loved one has taken Digitek and are concerned about these dangerous side effects, please feel free to contact me at anytime at 1.800.793.6586 or via the contact form on this page.
